2012 Application Guideline for International Students

1.Purpose

Fuji Seal Packaging Education and Scholarship Foundation encourages highly motivated, academically talented and well-behaved international students to pursue their studies in applied chemistry (especially plastic product), mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, polymer science and engineering, or design-related field. It aims to cultivate deserving students by offering the scholarships.

2.Overview

(1)The scholarships are offered as a form of payment. Applicants shall have no repayment obligation.

(2)Applicants may determine postgraduation plans or future career freely.

(3)In principle, applicants must not be receiving other scholarships.
(Except scholarship loan from Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO))

3.Eligibility

(1)Applicants must have foreign nationality and the visa status, "College Student".

(2)International applicants who pursue their studies in applied chemistry (especially plastic product), mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, polymer science and engineering, or design-related field

(3)Highly motivated, academically talented, and well-behaved applicants.

(4)Applicants who have an understanding and high potential to contribute to international friendship

(5)Applicants must provide an essay in either Japanese or English.

(6)Applicants who have academic interests in packaging.

(7)International-minded applicants who have high motivation to take on new challenges

4.Number of students to be accepted

13 students (junior year (third-year) in university)

5.Scholarship Amounts and Payment

(1)Amount of Payment
¥ 100,000 / month

(2)Period of Scholarships
Scholarships will be provided for max. 2 years since applicants are accepted.
Renewal of scholarships will be determined by screening on a year-on-year basis.

(3)Scholarship Payment
In principle, Scholarships will be paid to the recipient’s account directly for 3months at a time: June, September, December, and March.

6.Suspension and Termination of Scholarship

The scholarships will be suspended or terminated, if any one of the following conditions applies to the scholarship recipient:

(1)Withdraws from the school

(2)Takes a leave of absence or a long absence from the school

(3)Fails to move up or has a possibility to postpone the graduation

(4)Has difficulty continuing to study due to illness or other health problems

(5)Shows poor academic performance or inappropriate behavior

(6)Has any reason that students do not need scholarships

(7)Fails in their obligations designated by this Foundation

(8)Has any reason that deemed inappropriate as a recipient

7.Procedure

(1)Application Documents

[4] Student registration certificate

[5] Transcript

[6] Certificate on registered matters

[7] Essay (report) or works designed by applicants (see attached form)

(2)Submission of Application Documents
Applicants must send all the documents through the scholarship office at university.

(3)Application Deadline
Application documents need to be received by May 20, 2012

8.Selection and Result

(1)The recipient will be decided by the chairperson based on the nomination from the Selection Committee. The notification will be sent to the applicants.

(2)Selection and decision process shall not disclose.

9.Obligation

The recipients must provide a transcript, student registration certificate, and a report to the chairperson on May. In addition, the recipients must attend workshop held by this Foundation once or twice a year, and must submit activities report, essay, or designed works if requested by the Foundation without delay (four times a year).
